We are an international community of children, parents, and educators in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, committed to making the world a better place. We strive to raise children that have a deep respect for different cultures, the planet, and the community where they live. We provide an environment that supports their independence and sense of responsibility while developing the skills they need to become the next generation of conscious global citizens.
New school, years of experience
Created in August 2019, El Árbol Green School is the result of the love, hard work, and cooperation of a strong community of parents and educators coming together to serve the needs of our children.
While El Árbol Green School is a newly formed institution, our educational community has been working hand in hand for more than five years to provide an international education environment where children from around the world can learn about different cultures.
From the very beginning, our philosophy has been to offer an alternative educational concept based on the principles of constructivism and project-based learning – all while fostering independence, inclusiveness, and responsibility in our students.
Overcoming the many challenges that have led us to what we are today, we are teaching our children to set goals and to work hand in hand to make the world a better place for all.
A GLOBAL-MINDED COMMUNITY
Our school receives students from all over the world, whether they are here to stay or simply exploring the region for a while. Many of our students have moved back to the U.S., Canada, England, and other countries after spending time with us, and have adapted well to the education programs offered there.
A SUSTAINABLE GREEN SCHOOL
Situated on a beautiful green campus, El Árbol Green School offers wide, open spaces where students learn first-hand about the importance of caring for the environment. We recycle rainwater to run our toilets and water our plants, and much of our electricity is generated by solar panels.
El Árbol Green School provides bilingual instruction at all levels, with dedicated English and Spanish teachers assigned to each grade. By the time students graduate from sixth grade, most of them are fluent in both English and Spanish.
